Maker centre cam lifting devise.

Postby John Baker » Fri Mar 20, 2020 5:22 am

I was watching Bob's hermle video on dimantling the centre cam. The final step in separating the two plates.
He used two lifting levers, which I'd not seen before, or did I have them. Naturally, and as I am a long way away
In Australia, I needed to have these quickly. What could be adapted. Of course, 6 inch nails. A bit brutal I hear you say.
However with some bending into shape with hammer and large vice(that's the brutal part), half the job is done.
Next comes the subtle shaping and polishing with linisher, grinding wheel and sandpaper.
Job done.

John from Australia.

Thanks John,
I've used old high carbon files, sewing needles and other old tools to make different tools and parts but never tried nails. Good tip!
