Pocket Watch Back

I thought I would post here about something I think everyone has run across. I had a pocket watch Elgin 16s that I could not get the back off of it. So I took and put a bead of hot glue in a circle around the back and one bead down the middle. I have a piece of ceramic in my shop and after applying the glue I put it down on top of the ceramic. I let it set for 15 minutes. When I went back out the back unscrewed right off. This was told to me by a old watchmaker in a town east of me that had been doing watches for 76 yrs. He also said a rolled up piece of duct tape will work but will need the sticky cleaned off. With the hot glue just peel it off and it is clean. Just a idea when all the shoots, darns and son of a guns start flying.
