Hermle Floating Balance

Postby flyingtrout » Sat May 05, 2018 6:56 pm

I have a Franz Hermle 340-20, for a Ridgeway Mantel Clock. I have adjusted the time numerous times, and it still runs fast....like almost an hour a day. When I purchased it appears that the balance wheel could have been new. Is it possible that the part is incorrect. Any help would be appreciated

I know this is an old post, but if you set the Ballance adjustment to centre, then add waight to the Ballance wheel, is I snip the ends of taper pins the thicker end then mount them on the Ballance wheel using a medium loketite, I would start of with 2 ,1either side of the Ballance wheel, then maybe you can adjust it as it says, this has worked for me many times, these units are supposed to have been balanced/poised etc, I don't believe the suppliers one bit, these units arive there is no way they have poised them etc I have had this argument with a certain supplier on a few ocasions
With no satisfaction from them, but what can you do.
