Weights in escapement wheel

Postby sunny_birds » Fri Jul 14, 2017 11:33 pm

The weights in the escapement wheel are about 1mm dia.
Are there any special pliers available for removing and replacing these weights?
Is it possible to buy additional weights?

Robin,
Much more information needed here for this brain to figure out what you are asking.
I have never seen an escape wheel with weights before. Do you mean balance wheel???
If you do mean balance wheel what weights do you want to remove? Timing screws? Poising screws? They both usually have screw head slots in them but not always. If no screw slots then a small pointed pin vice has worked for me. Can you give more detail here?

Best,
Phil

For members following this discussion I found more information about what Robin is asking in the general forum and responded to the question there at https://clockrepairtips.com/forum/viewt ... =20#p16324
Robin is referring to a floating balance in a clock.

Best, Phil
